Typical Brazilian dishes
Farofa
Farofa is basically tosted tapioca flour (Corn flour) mixed with small pieces of fried bacon and it can be served with rice and beans, barbecue or Feijoada. Farofa contain ingredients like: vegetable oil or olive oil, salt, bacon, onions, garlic, sausage, olives, hard-boiled eggs until golden brown.
In Brazil, farofa is also used in a stuffing for poultry and other dishes, in this case, it usually contain raisins, nuts, and (or) finely chopped sweet fruits like apples and bananas. In the state of Bahia, it is common for farofa to be prepared with dendê oil, giving it a stronger taste and a rich yellow coloring.
Farofa is crunch an salty, it is going well with almost everything. This typical brazilian dishe is much dificult to find abroad.
Feijoada
Have you ever tried a typical brazilian feijoada?
No i haven't. What's it?
Feijoada is one of the Brazilian main dishes you can find the most and it is eaten in every corner of the country. It’s a pot of black beans cooked with chunks of meat (dried beef, smoked sausage, pig’s ears, pig's trotters, pig's tails and other parts..). It’s served with white rice, farofa, sautéed collard greens and a slice of orange to flavor.
I really love Feijoada because it is a little salty and spicy, besides it has an incredible combination of flavors. Would you like to try this dishe?
Paçoca
Paçoca is a candy and it is extremely addictive. If you’ve never tried paçoca, I hope you get the chance to experience it at least once in your life. its flavour is swet and its soft texture drive anyone crazy.
Paçoca de amendoim is a traditional Brazilian treat made of peanuts, sugar and salt. We can buy easly this candy in supermarkets and candy shops. But, if we want to make this delicious treat It is very easy to make it. You put peanuts, sugar and salt in the food processor, where they are crushed until achieve a consistency of homemade candy.
Very popular at the Festas Juninas, this candys is truly a peanut lovers dream.
Mandioca Frita (Fried Manioc)
Commonly called Cassava or manioc root, native to the Amazonian region. It was the basis of the Native Brazilian culinary and it is still an important food resource to Northern and Northeastern Brazilian populations.
Cassava tastes a little salty, it is also crispy on the outside and creamy inside. its igredients are manioc, salt and frying oil. Fried Manioc looks like french fries.
Misto Quente
This is a typical Brazilian snack. You can eat it any time of the day because it is light and very nutrutive. Misto quente is basically made with half of a French baguette grilled with melted cheese and ham inside. You can buy that in the snack bars on the streets or make at home.
This fantastic snack is soft and chewy. In my opinion it combine very well with orange juice.
Romeu e Julieta (Romeo and Juliet)
This is a incredible brazilian dessert it is soft, chewy and swet. Sometimes it can be sickening, i recomend to eat that in small portions.
Romeo is the guava paste, like a thick jelly. Alread, Juliet is the white cheese. They are served with a slice guava paste in between two slices of mild, white cheese. It can also be the main filling of a pie, pizza or a pastel.
I'm crazy about this dessertand i can't resit eating that. do you like this typical brazilian dessert?
